Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on Tuesday on a refugee camp near the town of Tulkarm in the Israeli-administered West Bank, Reuters reported, citing information from Palestinian and Israeli officials. At least eight Palestinians were killed in the shelling.
Initially, the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Health reported five deaths. The ministry reported that the victims included two women and three men, including an 18-year-old, and three people were seriously injured. After another round of shelling by Israeli forces, the death toll increased to “at least eight.”
The al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's armed wing, said in a statement that two of its members were killed in the Tulkaram airstrikes.

The Israeli military earlier said it had killed one Palestinian in an “anti-terrorist operation” in Tulkarm. During this operation, soldiers arrested 18 wanted people and dozens of weapons were confiscated. On Tuesday evening, the Israeli side reported that the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm, where armed Palestinian fighters were supposed to be staying, was attacked from the air.
On Wednesday night, the Israeli army announced that one of its commanders was injured during an operation in the Tulkarm area as a result of the explosion of an explosive device. “The commander of the Menashe Regional Brigade was moderately injured and was evacuated for medical treatment. The other passengers in the vehicle were not injured,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
