An Italian court referred the case of migrants placed in a transit center in Albania to the Court of Justice of the European Union. Judges suspended the authorities' decision approving the migrants' stay in the country.

The judges argued that these migrants, also from Bangladesh and Egypt, come from countries that are not safe.

Centers in Albania will be empty again

In response to the ruling, which caused tensions between the politicians of the center-right government coalition and the judicial community, Giorgia Meloni's government developed a decree with a new list of safe countries of origin and included Bangladesh and Egypt on it.

According to Monday's court decision, which referred the case of the next group of migrants to CJEUthey will leave the center in Gjader, Albania and be transported to Italy. Centers in Albania will be empty again.

Italian deputy prime minister, leader of the right-wing League Matteo Salvini commented on the decision of the Roman court with the words: “This is another political verdict not against the government, but against Italy and its security.” – The government and parliament have the right to react to protect citizens, and they will do so – he emphasized.
