In 2018, he ran for the first time in local elections, running for the office of president of Wrocław. He won it in the first round, winning 50.2 percent of the votes. In the last elections, Sutryk was supported by the New Left, but the Razem Party distanced itself from him. He also sought the support of the Civic Coalition, which supported him in the previous elections, and ultimately received the support of the Civic Platform. Ultimately, he won re-election, defeating Third Way's candidate Izabela Bodnar with 68.29 percent votes. voters.
