American director and screenwriter Jeff Baena, husband of actress Aubrey Plaza, has died. He was 47 years old. The circumstances of his death remain unclear.
Baen's body was found on Friday morning by his assistant in the director's house in Los Angeles, People magazine reported, citing police sources. In a statement to the media, the family said they were “devastated” and asked for privacy during this difficult time.
Jeff Baena, director of such films as “The Hours”, “Beth's Second Life” and “Joshy”, was the husband of actress Aubrey Plaza, known from the series “White Lotus” and the sitcom “Parks and Recreation”. The couple got married in 2021.
Baena was born and raised in Miami. He attended film school at New York University and moved to Los Angeles shortly after graduation to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. He has produced over a dozen productions.
He was, among others, co-author of the comedy “How to Be Yourself” with Dustin Hoffman, Mark Wahlberg, Jude Law and Naomi Watts in the main roles. He made his directorial debut in 2014 with “Life After Beth”, a zombie comedy starring Aubrey Plaza. The pair later collaborated on several projects.
The cause of the 47-year-old's death has not been officially confirmed.
