– PR specialists sat, looked at the polls, various analyses, and they concluded that it was better to have a so-called “non-partisan” and “civic” candidate, because he would not be responsible for eight years of PiS rule – he explained in ” Dot the i's” former president Aleksander Kwaśniewski, commenting on the announcement of the run of the president of the Institute of National Remembrance, Karol Nawrocki, in the presidential elections. The decision to nominate him was made by PiS, although the party calls this candidacy “civic.” – This is sewn with too thick threads – said Kwaśniewski.
Karol Nawrockipresident of the Institute of National Remembrance and former director of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk, was announced as the PiS candidate for president on Sunday. It happened at a convention organized by PiS, at which the president Jarosław Kaczyński he said that the party “made the decision to nominate” him. PiS, however, presents Nawrocki as a “civic” and “non-party” candidate. Nawrocki is not a member of Law and Justice or any other party. To the President Institute of National Remembrance the law prohibits this.
Former president Aleksander Kwaśniewski he said in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 that when it comes to the narrative about the “civic” candidate, “it is too thick.” – Because it is a typical PR project, probably invented from A to Z – he explained.
According to him, “PR specialists sat, looked at the polls, at various analyses, and they concluded that it was better to have a so-called non-party candidate and a citizen candidate.” – Because he will not be responsible for eight years of PiS rule, as he would be (Mateusz) Morawiecki(Mariusz) Błaszczak or others – he noted. – And this is supposed to be a convenience that he will always be able to say during campaigns (ed.): listen, maybe it was bad, but I had nothing to do with it, come on, let's see what happens next – he added Kwaśniewski.
In his opinion, “the idea is to shift the responsibility for eight years of PiS rule, which was bad for Poland,” from himself and this candidate.
“It's a candidate's choice that can be shaped”
– Secondly, it is the choice of a candidate who needs to be shaped. Because we don't know him well, he may behave differently, Kwaśniewski continued.
– He can be shaped into a sharp fighter who will fight and will be very liked by the conservative, hard electorate, but he can be shaped into a calmer one, more open, dialogic, one who says in the first words of his speech that he wants to end the war. Polish-Polish, in which Jarosław Kaczyński has a major share and at the same time does not say that he wants to do it – he explained.
– He didn't even announce something that I would expect – that during the campaign he would not use language that would stigmatize his opponents, that would deny patriotism to people who think differently. There was no such opinion – emphasized the guest of “Kropka nad i”.
“This is not a crushing victory”
The former president also commented on the results of the latest one survey Opinia24 studio for “Fakty” TVN and TVN24, which shows, among other things, that if in the second round of elections there was a clash between Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki, 52 percent of respondents would support the mayor of Warsaw and the deputy head of PO, and 41 percent would support the president of the Institute of National Remembrance.
As Kwaśniewski said, “it's good that this is the result,” but “it's not a crushing victory.” – Because PiS is strong. And I appeal to everyone on the democratic side to understand that these will be one of the most difficult elections, he emphasized, adding that “it must be hard work.”
– Rafał Trzaskowski must go to places where he has not been seen, i.e. to counties and small towns. He has won Warsaw, he doesn't have to try much here. However, those proverbial Końskie or others must get to know Rafał Trzaskowski as a man with whom they can identify – he added.
