The police detained three people suspected of fraud using the BLIK codes. Until now, about 80 people are in the case of victims.
The investigation is supervised by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowice. A few days ago, a third suspect was arrested in this matter. The 26-year-old faces up to twelve years in prison.
According to investigative findings, the gang members broke into Facebook accounts and Messenger. According to a spokesman for the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowice, Michał Binkiewicz, the 26-year-old detention is the result of cooperation between the prosecutor's office and the officers of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Częstochowa.
Subsequent proceedings
The man was included in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. He heard allegations of participation in an organized criminal group, producing computer programs for committing crimes, unlawful information and fraud. At the request of the prosecutor's office, the court arrested him for three months. There are currently three suspects in the case, two of them have been arrested.
According to the findings of the procedure, gang fraudsters acted all over Poland. Its members broke electronic security to Facebook accounts and Messenger, and then extorted funds “by obtaining cash loans by BLIK method”. – For the alleged deeds, there is a penalty of up to 12 years imprisonment. The investigation is of a developmental nature. Further procedural activities are planned, including detention. The spokesman announced that this was another major proceedings conducted by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowice regarding the activities of organized criminal groups, committing crimes using the BLIK method; It has been run for less than two years. The status of victims has about 80 people in it, but investigators point out that the actual number of deceived is probably much higher – materials from all over Poland are attached to the Katowice investigation.
