Kiriłł Dmitrijew. “You can solve almost every problem thanks to it.” Who is the silent emissary of Putin

Kiriłł Dmitrijew did not sit at the negotiating table, but his presence in the composition of the delegation shows how important the economic potential of negotiations is for Vladimir Putin – writes about the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund BBC Paul Kirby.

49-year-old Dmitrijew is closely associated with the President of Russia, he has long been known in the USA, and comes from Kiev.

Dmitryjew was born in 1975 in Kiev, and in the 90s he met his American family, from which he learned that he could study in the USA. Therefore, he went to California, where he attended College, and then began studying at Stanford University. After graduating, he worked at Goldman Sachs and McKinsey, and later obtained the title of MBA at Harvard.

In 2000, Dmitrijew moved to Russia, where he became, among others, the head of the investment in Delta Private Equity, a structure created as part of the Russia-Us Fund with the support of the then US President Bill Clinton.

In the years 2007-2011 he managed the Icon Private Equity Ukrainian investment fund. He was mainly followed by Wiktor Pinczuk, the son -in -law of the former president of Ukraine Leonida Kuczma. Pinczuk, as previously informed by Russian independent media, ordered Kiriłła to Dmitryjew to Vladimir Dmitrijew (they are not related), who at that time headed the web – a Russian state developmental corporation. It was they who convinced the then President Dmitry Medvedev and then Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to create an independent investment fund – reminds the Ukrainian Section of the BBC. This is how the Russian direct investment fund was created, headed by Kiriłł Dmitrijew.

The task of the Russian direct investment fund is to attract foreign investments to the Russian economy. To this end, the fund, as a co -investor, invests money in projects and companies that seem promising to him. Dmitrijew regularly informs about the successes of his institution. He did it for the last time in January, at a meeting with Putin – reminds The Insider.

The portal writes that one of the most important projects in Dmitryjew's life as the head of the direct investment fund has become the Sputnik V voting vaccine against Covid-19, and above all its distribution abroad. – Kirilł feels like the Messiah. For him, the distribution of vaccine around the world is an absolutely evangelical, ascetic task – a former fund employee said a few years ago. Dmitryjew was one of the first to test Sputnik on himself, he said about the vaccine that he was “the safest and most effective” and criticized the information campaign against Sputnik, blaming “great pharmaceutical companies” and “anti -Russian political circles”.

Dmitryjew has already declared that he would focus on future economic relations with the USA in negotiations with the Americans. He also talked about the implementation of joint projects, including in the Arctic region and other areas. As the head of the direct investment fund, he has many contacts in the Middle East – with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He also has close connections with Putin's family – his relatives maintain close relations with one of the daughters of the President of Russia. And few Russians know the American financial and business sector better than Dmitrijew – notes Paul Kirby.

In an interview with American journalists in Riyadh, Dmitrijew argued that the owners of American companies lost at least $ 300 billion, carrying their activities outside Russia.

The Independent Russian -language portal The Insider calls Dmitrijew's “Putin from Stanford”. Writing about his connections with Putin's family, he reminds that an important event in Dmitry's life was a meeting, and then a wedding with Natalia Popowa, a friend of Katerina Tichonowa, a young daughter of Vladimir Putin. They both studied at the Moscow University, and Popowa is currently the deputy Tichonowa at the Innopraktika National Innopraktika National Intellectual Development Foundation – writes The Insider.

In 2013, The Insider wrote about Dmitrijewo that he is one of the people with “physical access to Putin” and one of the “most prominent characters on the lobbying front”. – Thanks to Kiriłł Aleksandrowicz you can solve almost every problem.
