1: 0 with Lithuania and 2: 0 with Malta – these are the results of March matches of the Polish national team at the start of the qualifying round for next year's World Cup. Despite the victories, the white and red were criticized for the game. With the Lithuanians they had difficulties in creating a convenient shooting situation. Robert Lewandowski scored at the end of the match. There were many more opportunities with Malta, but at the same time surprisingly often allowed them at their own goal. According to Roman Kosecki, there are specific reasons why Poland did not play to the best of its abilities.
Kosecki indicates the problems of the Polish national team
According to the former representative, one of the best Polish footballers of the 90s, the problems of the current team primarily concern the mental sphere. Footballers look completely different in the club than in the national team. Everything goes out during training, and during meetings, e.g. at the PGE National Stadium, they have blessed legs.
According to Kosecki, Polish footballers lack sufficient mobilization and motivation to play regularly in the national team at the appropriate level. This can be seen especially in meetings with weaker rivals. Lithuania and Malta are teams from the middle of the second hundred FIFA ranking (143 and 169, respectively in the list of April 3). The former striker of Legia Warsaw and Atletico Madrid believes that today there is no one to shake the cloakroom, there is a lack of leadership. The problem concerns both the training staff, which does not rule with an iron hand, as well as footballers, where there are no leaders, designs, authorities. Lack of firmness in the team causes a decrease in motivation.

– Looking at today's times, I think that players lack this hard, decisive hand. I believe that we will be promoted to the world championships. We haven't started yet, and we have already set up, also journalists themselves that we play for a play -off. Although it is known that the Netherlands or Spain are out of reach. I talked to Michał Probier, I congratulated him after the matches of these six points, three goals, zero lost, but the games are not too much. Someone who played and survived a bit knows that it is difficult to mobilize so much. I do not blame them for the result, but some give too little here, less than in the club. They look cool in the club and they come to the team and cannot find themselves, and they can't win a duel – said Kosecki in the program “This is Sport.pl”.
Kosecki quoted an example of a match against San Marino from 1993, which Poland won after the famous goal with the hand of Jan Furtok, indicating that weaker matches have the right to happen once in a while. The problem is that the current staff has been playing below a certain level for a long time.
– I understand it as a footballer. After all, I played from San Marino in Łódź, where we had ten situations, Furtok shot his hand, and they still had two situations alone, we could lose this match – he added.
In June, Poland will play a sparring with Moldova in Chorzów and a match of elimination away with Finland.
