A train derailed in Koszalin on Tuesday when the signalman incorrectly moved the switch. It turned out that he had 1.7 per mille of alcohol in his body. The man was arrested. He was charged with a sentence punishable by up to five years in prison and was placed under police supervision.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening. The services received a report of a derailed train near the main station in Koszalin.
“During his shift, the 56-year-old incorrectly moved the track switch, which led to the derailment of the Impuls electric multiple unit. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident, but the material losses are significant,” said the Koszalin City Police Headquarters.
Charge against the signalman
The 56-year-old was arrested. On Wednesday, he was charged with Article 180 of the Penal Code. At the prosecutor's request, he was placed under police supervision. The man faces up to 5 years in prison for the crime he committed.
“The charge concerns performing professional activities in a state of intoxication related to ensuring safety in the movement of motor vehicles,” the Koszalin police station informed.
