The robes that Leon XIV took on, when for the first time as a pope appeared before the faithful, they differ from Franciszek's clothing, who founded after the election. The new head of the Catholic Church returned to traditional papal clothing. What are the differences and what can this mean?
When Pope Leon XIV appeared to the world on the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica on Thursday evening, he was wearing traditional papal robes. He founded a mucet (arms cover) in a characteristic shade of red and a decorated stole.
His predecessor, Franciszek, just after the election of March 13, 2013, spoke for the first time to the faithful dressed in a simple, white cassock, getting rid of most of the splendor that surrounds the papacy – noted CNN.

What the pope will wear every day and what for the liturgy
The daily outfit of the Pope traditionally consists of white Puskie, which the Holy Father wears on his head.
The bishop of Rome also puts on a white casket for ankle and mucat – it is a white or crimson -colored bedspread. A white belt with a papal coat of arms embroiled at the waist.
A pectoral, i.e. a decorative cross made of precious metal, is suspended around his neck. In turn, on the finger of the head of the Catholic church there is a large ring with an engraved coat of arms. He has red leather shoes on his feet.
What characterizes liturgical robes for the pope? There is a high mitra on his head. He puts on a simple white alb, and a chasuble made of expensive fabrics and decoratively embroidered, which can have different colors. On his arms there is a pallium – a woolen tape decorated with crosses.
In his hand he holds a pastor ended with a cross.
