About 30 dogs were evacuated by shelter employees because of the rapidly spreading near fire. It started with a grass fire, but the flames also damaged the electrical box and gas installation. As the fireman says, the flame reached 12 meters.
A report on grass fire in Lubajny (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship) received services on Sunday around 11am. At the beginning one fire brigade was sent. However, when firefighters arrived, it quickly turned out that additional help was needed.
– As a result of the grass fire, the electrical box and gas installation were damaged. There was a gas leak from the medium pressure network. The gas flame reached about 10-12 meters – says Capt. Mateusz Pawlaczyk, commander of JRG PSP in Ostróda.

The fire reached the nearby shelter
Firefighters secured the place of the incident, they had to stop traffic for cars. At that time, there was also the action of extinguishing grass and reeds.
– Due to the large wind, the cane fire quickly spread, reached a nearby shelter – says Sen. Capt. Mateusz Pawlaczyk. – Thanks to the very efficient organization and actions of the shelter employees, about 30 dogs were evacuated, which were not directly exposed to flames, but to a large smoke – he adds.
The fireman explains that the flames were a few meters from the shelter and the employees themselves decided to evacuate animals to a safe place.
Services are ongoing all the time. The fire has already been controlled.
