In an interview with “Rzeczpospolita” Mikhail Khodorkovsky pointed out three possible scenarios for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The first one assumes a loss Kiev – the Russian oppositionist has no doubt that in such a case Vladimir Putin decides to enter into conflict with one of the countries NATO.

– (…) The West will have to face confrontation, e.g. Russia z Poland. This is quite possible, said Khodorkovsky.

The second scenario presented by Khodorkovsky concerns: looking for a compromise. As the entrepreneur stated, Ukraine's allies are currently following this path.

– They are trying to convince Putin and Ukraine to seek some kind of consensus based on the current line of confrontation. In the West, not everyone understands that Ukraine needs to follow this path increasing support and specific assistance and security guarantees after the truce is concluded, he said.

Khodorkovsky pointed out that Ukraine will need external investors who they will raise its economy from ruins. If this does not happen, the situation may encourage the Russian president to resume the conflict and claim more territory.

– There is a third option that the West is not ready for. It's about what's important increasing military aid to Ukraine. Today, Putin's army has ten times more missiles than the Ukrainian army. And even in this situation, Ukraine is holding on. If there was a parity of weapons and ammunition, Putin's regime would not have it easy, said the Russian businessman.

Will Vladimir Putin use nuclear weapons? Khodorkovsky: He has already threatened a dozen times

According to Mikhail Khodorkovsky, the West should not heed Russia's threats to use nuclear weapons. As he said, Putin had already used them a dozen times. He pointed out that the direction of the policy pursued towards Moscow should not assume the possibility of using the “red button”.

– Putin should know that if he presses the button, everyone will die and there is nothing we can do about it. And until he pressed it, the world should pursue such a policy towards Russia as as if Putin did not have these weapons at all – said the oppositionist.

He added that otherwise talks with Putin will be pointless, because he will always be able to use his ace up his sleeve in the form of blackmail with nuclear weapons.
