One of the travelers left two backpacks in the hall of the Warsaw-Modlin Airport. Airport services announced the evacuation of the passenger terminal and access roads to the airport. Due to this, the flight to Bergamo was delayed by 35 minutes.
On Thursday, October 24, two backpacks were spotted at the airport in Modlin, which no one admitted to. Officers from the Special Intervention Team of the Border Guard Station Warsaw – Modlin decided to carry out pyrotechnic reconnaissance.
Safety zone
– The incident took place in front of the entrance to the terminal of the Warsaw-Modlin Airport. Access roads to the airport were blocked and all those in the immediate vicinity of the suspicious luggage were evacuated (300 people – ed.), marking a security zone. After checking the backpacks, it turned out that they contained personal items and electronics – says Dagmara Bielec, press officer of the Nadwiślański Border Guard Unit.
Ticket for the passenger
After the operation, an Irishman, the owner of the abandoned luggage, reported to the border guards. He was fined PLN 500.
Due to the action at the airport, the flight to Bergam was delayed for 35 minutes.
