British fighters stationed in Poland have been picked up in response to the behavior of the Russian air unit – the command of the Allied Air Force said. Planes with a base in Estonia were also involved.

On Wednesday morning, the Command of the Allied Air Force announced that British Eurofighters stationed in Malbork and Portuguese F-16 from ämari in Estonia “They were picked up in response to a Russian aircraft that does not comply with international security standards.”
The operational command of the Armed Forces types emphasized that it was “the first combat mission of EF-2000 fighters stationed in Malbork as part of the Enhanced Air Policing”.
NATO Air Policing is a mission to protect the integrity and sovereignty of the member states. It involves the full and periodic combat duty over countries that do not have sufficient protection of airspace. The first NATO operation under this mission – Baltic Air Policing has been implemented since 2004, since Lithuania, Latvia And Estonia, which do not have their own air force, have been admitted to NATO. The place of implementation of the mission are bases in Lithuania in Shawlach and Estonia in ämari.
