New record for consumer bankruptcies – TVN24 Biznes

In 2024, courts announced 21,200 consumer bankruptcies. This is a historical record. Almost 116,000 Poles have already gone bankrupt – we read in the Friday edition of “Puls Biznesu”.

According to the daily, the number of bankruptcies of natural persons is growing significantly every year, although “last year the increase was not as spectacular as before.”

Nevertheless, data from the Court and Economic Monitor and the National Register of Debtors show that as many as 21.2 thousand went bankrupt in 2024. people, the most in history.

According to the newspaper, over the last 10 years the courts have made it possible consumer bankruptcy 115.7 thousand citizens who were unable to repay their debts.

At the beginning of this possibility, i.e. since 2015, there were very few similar rulings, even though there were many more people willing to do so. “Why has this phenomenon been increasing for several years?” – asks the author of the text.

He explains that for several years, regulations have made it possible to obtain consumer bankruptcy regardless of the cause of insolvency. That is why there has been such a significant increase.
