The authorities want to hold the former head of the Smolensk subcommittee, Antoni Macierewicz, accountable “once and for all,” writes the weekly “Newsweek” on Monday. “This time he may not get away with his activities,” we read. The report of the Ministry of National Defense on the Smolensk subcommittee, consisting of approximately one thousand pages, is to be published in the coming weeks.
“It was a puzzle. Or even worse: what we found after Macierewicz was a sight as if someone had thrown a grenade into a room full of documents and added fans so that the shreds of the explosion were in total chaos,” a person who participated in it told Newsweek in preparing the report of the Ministry of National Defense on the activities of the Smolensk subcommittee, headed by Macierewicz. As he adds, “it's not a coincidence, but Macierewicz's method of making it difficult to find your way in all this.”
The weekly emphasizes that the first two-three months were spent collecting and organizing the materials left by the subcommittee. The team is headed by Col. Pil. Leszek Błach. “The experts analyzed 180,000 pages of various types of documents and five terabytes of data collected on the subcommittee's servers,” the weekly heard from a person involved in this work.

“Newsweek” reminds that the Ministry of National Defense report is to be published within the next two-three weeks. It is expected to be approximately one thousand pages long.
“The team worked for nine months. The report will contain theses and evidence for each of them. We will present everything publicly. I believe that this is one of the most important tasks of the Polish state to ensure that the case of the subcommittee and Macierewicz himself is brought to justice. The report will contain facts and evidence. , which is completely opposite to Macierewicz's reports. And then the prosecutor's office will decide on pressing charges. Together with a team of specialists, we will hold Macierewicz accountable,” says the deputy minister of national defense Cezary Tomczyk (PO).
According to the weekly, the report of the Ministry of National Defense will be followed by notifications to the prosecutor's office. “They will definitely concern Macierewicz, and perhaps also his successor as the head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak. Why? He re-appointed the subcommittee every year, although some of its members warned that it was Macierewicz's farm. Błaszczak did nothing about it” – we read.
