The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has published an intercepted recording that is supposed to be proof that North Korean troops fighting the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region are suffering heavy losses. The interlocutor – introduced by the SBU as a nurse in a hospital in the Moscow Oblast – reveals how many servicemen of Kim Jong Un's army have been injured in the last few days. The Russian woman also complains that contact with them is very difficult.

“The defense forces of Ukraine are inflicting serious losses on units of the Russian Federation and North Korea in the territory of the Kursk Oblast. In just a few days, over 200 injured North Korean soldiers were transported to one of the Russian hospitals in the Moscow Oblast. This is evidenced by a new intercepted SBU conversation in which a hospital nurse “is communicating with her husband, the occupier, fighting in the Kharkiv Oblast,” the Security Service reported on Wednesday Ukraine.

“120 Koreans on a Train”

In a 2.5-minute conversation, the Russian woman (introduced by the SBU as a nurse at a hospital in the Moscow Oblast) lists how many Koreans have been admitted to her facility in recent days. “Yesterday there was a train with about 100 people on it. Today there are 120, now 200. And how many are there? Only God knows,” says the interlocutor of the intercepted conversation.

In a conversation with a man (the SBU said he was a Russian soldier fighting with Ukrainian forces in the Kharkiv Oblast), a Russian woman complains that contact with wounded North Korean soldiers is difficult. She also says that her colleague asks, “how will you understand that they need to give them a painkiller injection?” And she replies: “If they yell, it means it hurts.”

“Zero” knowledge of Russian

In the next conversation, the nurse complains that Kim Jong Un's soldiers are sent to special units. “Are they so elitist? With such privileges?” – he doesn't hide his indignation.

The Russian claims that the knowledge of the Russian language among North Koreans is “zero” and that using online translators is pointless because the content is distorted. “They are all very similar. How can we tell them apart? We will write on the forehead with a marker,” the intercepted conversation says. The woman also says that Koreans wear almost identical clothes. “If everyone in blue goes to the hospital, how will we tell them apart?”

The woman also revealed that hospital staff could not speak to them in English because it was banned. As he explains, the hospital management made this decision because it concerns North Koreans who “are currently with Russia”, as opposed to South Koreans who “are with the United States.” The conversation shows that North Korean soldiers cannot use English when talking to each other.
