At least 10 million eggs must return to Norwegian producers. Contaminated food was used on the farms from which the Food Safety Office (Mattilynet) came. The goods from these farms are to be utilized, as well as thousands of hens.
In the feed used in belonging to the two largest in Norway Egg producers have been found dangerously high levels of vitamin D. Its excessive consumption can be harmful to man.
The polluted feed was produced by the Felleskjoepet plant in an open -air museum in Central Norway and went to nine breeders. Contamination was discovered when farmers began to report that their animals did not want to eat food supplied from the open -air museum.
Eggs for utilization
Eggs and chickens that had contact with contaminated food, according to Mattilynet's decision, will be utilized.
This is another case of poor quality of open -air museum products. The daily “AftenPosten” reminded on Sunday that in 2023, in several parts of feed from this manufacturer, a dangerously high level of selenium was found.
