Raków entered this match after a defeat to Piast Gliwice. They were therefore highly motivated to return to the winning track, and also to win the match for the so-called six points. Coach Marek Papszun surprised us by including Michael Ameyaw, recently brought in from Piast, in the starting line-up. He did a great job and may soon be talked about. “If he looks like this until the end of the season, then with such extensive scouting, his transfer on the last day of the window is surprising” – stated Rafal Grodzicki.
Papszun reacted to the victory against Legia. And suddenly a pin in Feio
The coach's concept worked perfectly. Raków could have achieved an even better result, but the most important thing is of course the victory. Right after the final whistle of referee Jarosław Przybył, Papszun exploded with joy and fell into the arms of assistant Dawid Szwarga. This showed how important this match was for the entire staff of the Częstochowa team.
Despite this, the 50-year-old revealed that he was calm about the final result. “I'm at an age where I'm not afraid of matches, I'm not worried about the result. From the pitch, it looked like Legia couldn't do much to us. I was worried that we weren't able to end the competition by scoring a goal for 2-0. Congratulations to the team and the staff for their great preparation,” he explained on Canal+.
Papszun believes that Raków proved to be better in this particular aspect – in tactical preparation. And although there were many different comments on the web, many fans agreed with him. – We were very well prepared for the match. The implementation of the plan was at the level we are capable of today. Everything we worked on worked out and that's why – he said. And suddenly he stuck a pin in Goncalo Feio: We played a few different matches here, at different times and seasons, and I don't remember Legia posing so little threat to us.
Papszun finally admitted that he still has a lot of motivation. – If that happens, one day I will run out of it, you won't see me as a coach. If all the players had the same motivation as me and the staff, we would be Polish champions every season – he summed up. Thanks to this victory, Raków caught up with Legia in the Ekstraklasa table. Both teams have 14 points, while Papszun's players are in fifth place and a position lower than their rivals.
