Paul Di'Anno, former lead singer of Iron Maiden, has died. The musician, who sang on the first two albums of one of the greatest groups in the history of heavy metal, was 66 years old.

Information about Paul Di'Anno's death was first reported by the profile of the Conquest Music label, with which the musician worked, citing the deceased's family. “Paul passed away at his home in Salisbury, aged 66,” we read. Information with identical content also appeared on the singer's official Facebook profile.

Paul Andrews, known to heavy rock fans by his stage name Paul Di'Anno, was born on May 17, 1958 in East London. He performed on stage for almost half a century. He was best known for his performances with the heavy metal giant, Iron Maiden. He sang on the first two albums that set the pace for the group's great global career – “Iron Maiden” and “Killers”. “With timeless hits such as 'Iron Maiden', 'Remember Tomorrow', 'Running Free', 'Phantom of the Opera', 'Killers', 'Wratchild', 'Murders in the Rue Morgue', 'Purgatory' etc. , influenced many musicians and bands, and were also responsible for the creation or development of many subgenres in metal music,” we read on the official website of the deceased musician.

After leaving Iron Maiden, Paul has performed as a solo artist and as a member of the bands Gogmagog, Di'Anno's Battlezone, Praying Mantis, Killers, Rockfellas, Architects of Chaoz, and most recently Warhorse. “He always knew how to find a way to reach fans – thanks to numerous hits and uncompromising singing, which is confirmed by his successful career and crazy live performances around the world,” we read.

For the past eight years, Paul has been struggling with the disease. “Despite serious health problems that forced him to perform in a wheelchair in recent years, Paul continued to please his fans around the world, giving over 100 concerts since 2023,” we read on the Conquest Music profile. In mid-2024, he released a new album with the band Warhorse. On the last day of August, he performed for Polish fans in Krakow.

“This heavy metal icon with the heart of a punk rock rebel never spared himself, but always gave his all for the music and his fans, which is why they have faithfully followed him for almost fifty years,” summarizes the official biography on the website.
