The decision of the National Electoral Commission on the report of the PiS electoral committee may have an impact on depriving the party of subsidies for three years – said Wojciech Hermeliński, former head of the National Electoral Commission and retired judge of the Constitutional Tribunal, in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. He added that “there are certainly grounds to consider this and make such a decision”. The National Electoral Commission is to assess the report submitted by the PiS party for 2023 in a month.
National Electoral Commission rejected the financial report of the PiS election campaign committee. This was announced at the afternoon conference by its head Sylwester Marciniak. He explained that “the subsidy for the Electoral Committee [PiS – red.] would amount to over PLN 38 million”, but “will be reduced by PLN 10 million”.
Krzysztof Lorentz, director of one of the teams at the National Electoral Office, said that the annual subsidy for PiS will also be reduced by “three times the amount that was accepted contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Code, i.e. the amount of over ten million zlotys”.
The decision of the National Electoral Commission may be appealed to the Supreme Court.

Wojciech Hermeliński, former head of the National Electoral Commission, retired judge of the Constitutional Tribunal, said in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 that he had expected such a decision. – I was convinced that the National Electoral Commission would not reject the report in its entirety, especially since, as I heard, the National Electoral Commission is not interested in all the financial expenses from the Justice Fund, so these picnics remain – he added.
Krzysztof Lorentz, director of the Political Parties and Election Campaigns Financing Control Team at the National Electoral Office, said at a press conference that “another consequence, which no longer directly depends on the resolution passed today by the National Electoral Commission, is the possibility of the party losing its right to a three-year subsidy as a result of rejecting the party's annual financial report.” He added that this resolution has not yet been passed.
Hermeliński was asked whether today's decision by the National Electoral Commission could have an impact on the loss of subsidies for PiS for three years.
– I believe it may have an impact – said the former head of the National Electoral Commission. – In light of the Act on Political Parties, it may have a significance here – he added. He noted that it is difficult for him to decide, but, as he added, “there are certainly grounds to consider it and make such a decision”.
