PLN 1,000 from November. The amount of the benefit has not changed

The project adopted many important provisions for parents, including: that the income criterion entitling to family allowance and special care allowance will amount to PLN 674, and the income criterion entitling to a one-off allowance for the birth of a child will amount to PLN 1,922.

Importantly, the amount of the one-time allowance for the birth of one child will reach PLN 1,000 – the same as in the case of the unchanged amount of the monthly parental benefit. Detailed information on individual payouts is available at published regulation.

Who is entitled to parental benefit? It is only paid for a certain period of time

Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy explainsthat “parental benefit is due to persons taking care of a child who, due to their professional situation, cannot benefit from maternity benefit or maternity pay”. Support is aimed at, among others: to the unemployed, those working under a contract for specific work or students.

The ministry described that the benefit applies to:

  • mothers and fathers of children,
  • actual guardians of children (in the case of taking care of children under 14 years of age),
  • foster families (except for professional foster families, in the case of taking care of a child up to the age of 7, and in the case of a child for whom a decision has been made to postpone compulsory schooling – until the age of 10),
  • persons who have adopted children (in the case of taking care of children under 14 years of age).

It should also be mentioned that the benefit is only available during certain periods:

  • 52 weeks – in the case of the birth of one child at one delivery, adoption of one child or taking care of one child,
  • 65 weeks – in the case of giving birth to two children at one birth, adopting two children or taking care of two children,
  • 67 weeks – in the case of giving birth to three children at one birth, adopting three children or taking care of three children,
  • 69 weeks – in the case of giving birth to four children at one birth, adopting four children or taking care of four children,
  • 71 weeks – in the case of giving birth to five or more children at one birth, adopting five or more children or taking care of five or more children.
