Poland has a new ammunition factory. The production of gunpowder also returns to the country – but not all types

A million small-caliber missiles are to produce the Mesko plant in Skarżysko-Kamienna in the Świętokrzyskie Province a day. This is the plan. The Polish army has a huge problem with ammunition – above all this large caliber. We buy dust abroad, but the prime minister announces great investments.

The Polish private company Ammo Lab Solution produces ammunition – gunpowder must be imported. – I bring from France, in the past with Czechat a time when there was no Covida, there was no conflict in Ukraine – said Marcin Lep, the owner of Ammo Lab Solution.

Ammunition from Mr. Marcin Lep's factory will go to the shooting range – it will be used for sport and recreation. However, in Skarżysko-Kamienna, a rifle and pistol ammunition factory has just been opened, which will serve the defense purposes. The prime minister participated in the ceremony Donald Tusk.

However, the production of Polish gunpowder is still fragile. This is not space technology, it is a technology known for years, so why is this factory still not?

– From the point of view of raw material, technical, human, we have all the competences and possibilities to build such plants in Poland (…) and be even a leader – emphasizes Marcin Lep.

What about Polish gunpowder production?

Poland also had its own powder production, but because for years there was no real threat to war, the army ordered little ammunition. The national production was therefore dying. Now the production of domestic gunpowder for cartridges is finally returning at the Factory in Pionki.

However, the gunpowder of a different kind – for artillery shells – we still do not produce. The full -scale war in Ukraine has been going on for over three years. Why? – Our predecessors did not pay attention to this – explains the Minister of National Defense, Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The PiS government has talked about the gunpowder factory in Pionki since 2018. Prime Minister Morawiecki announced various initiatives, but it was worse with the implementation. – There were piles in the ground here, there were dozens of conflicts with subcontractors, and a permanent job – describes the deputy minister of national defense Cezary Tomczykstanding in a new factory.

The import of ready -made weapons and ammunition – PiS politicians answer. – Various types of weapon shopping contracts were concluded that I would express myself, right away – he says PiS MP Zbigniew Kuźmiuk. – There are companies that take billions of zlotys for it, for mediation in these transactions. Let's see what the interest is in this – says Cezary Tomczyk.

The gunpowder factory in Pionki lies in the electoral district of Zbigniew Kuźmiuk. He claims the governments SLD In the 1990s, they led to the fact that the factory was declining. He says that restarting production is not easy. – I wish this team all the best, but I think that it will not fully recreate our arms industry – believes Zbigniew Kuźmiuk.
