The Polish women's national team did not conquer the A division of the Nations League, in which it also fought to advance to next year's European Championships. In matches against the Germans, Austrians and Icelanders, they suffered six defeats, which meant relegation to the B LN division, as well as an extended path to the continental tournament.

The Polish women's national team met their rivals in the Nations League. It won't be easy

In the first phase of the Euro 2025 play-offs, the Poles defeated the Romanians without any major difficulties, defeating them 6-2 (2-1 and 4-1) in the October aggregate. And before the decisive competition with the Austrians (at the turn of November and December), they met their opponents in the next edition of the LN.

Nina Patalon's team will again face well-known opponents, this time the Romanians. In addition, in group 1 of division B there were also the teams of Northern Ireland and Bosnia and Herzegovina. “The Nations League groups have been drawn. Polish women were placed in probably the most demanding group. Although I still prefer Northern Ireland from the second basket to Serbia or Turkey,” said Dawid Brilowski from TVP Sport.

This is what awaits Polish soccer players in the Nations League. Format change

Similarly to the men's competition, the LN was reorganized in the women's competition. There are 16 teams in divisions A and B, divided into four groups of four teams. In Division C, there are 21 teams divided into three groups of four teams and three groups of three teams.

How will this affect the Polish players playing in the second level? Well, if they take first place in the group, they will return to the elite. And if they are second, they will have a two-game promotion match against the team from third place in division group A.

The situation will change if the Polish players take third place in their group. In division B, a classification of teams from these places will be created – the two best teams will play in the relegation play-offs against the two highest-placed teams from second positions in division C. However, the two weakest teams from third places and those from fourth places in division B will be relegated immediately. Only the group winners receive the C division.

Women's Nations League group matches will be played on three dates: February 19-26, April 2-8 and May 28-June 3. The play-off games and semi-finals of the Final Four tournament will take place on October 22-28, and the medal games will take place between November 26 and December 2.
