Polonia, Poles abroad. Government strategy for 2025-2030 adopted on returns and cooperation

Convincing Poles to return to the country and “modernization of cooperation instruments with Polonia” – these are the newly described priorities in foreign policy. The Council of Ministers adopted a strategy for 2025-2030 in this matter.

The Chancellery of the Prime Minister announced in a statement that the strategy was prepared by the Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was explained that it serves to implement new governmental assumptions and priorities of cooperation with Polonia and Poles abroad.

“It is primarily about promoting return policy and integration of funds transferred to Polish diaspora issues. The goal of the strategy is also to modernize cooperation instruments with Polonia, taking into account the development needs of the Polish economy and demographic forecasts” – the communiqué was indicated.

KPRM emphasized that Polonia is a group with great potential when it comes to return policy and modernization of the Polish economy. “This group also still has the potential for promotion and representing Polish interests abroad,” attention was noticed.

Strategy priorities

The announcement indicates that the priorities of the strategy are, among others:

• realization of return policy through supporting mobility programs (supporting returns to Poland in order to undertake professional, educational or research activity);
• dissemination of Polish language teaching, including as a foreign language;
• facilitations regarding undertaking academic education or professional internships in Poland;
• Improving the coordination of Polish diaspora actions.

KPRM added that the strategy also provides for a review of Polish policy financing instruments when it comes to their effectiveness and adaptation to new priorities.

The document also assumes a review of the provisions regarding the Polish Card, repatriation and citizenship in order to adapt them to the current realities.

“The government wants these instruments to be used only by people actually associated with Poland and attached to Polishness, Polish culture and tradition,” it was emphasized in the announcement.

The strategy will be implemented in the perspective until 2030, and the progress in its implementation will be monitored by the inter -ministerial team for Polonia and Poles abroad.
