I treat the meeting with Donald Trump as a complement to the trial after I talked to the US Secretary of Defense and General Keith Kellogg – said President Andrzej Duda in an interview with the correspondent of TVN's “Facts” in Washington Marcin Wrona. He also talked about the “clever plan” regarding American involvement in talks about the end of the war between Ukraine and Russia, which would also be a “kind of security guarantee for Ukraine.”
President Andrzej Duda He met on Saturday with Donald Trump at the Gaylord National Convention Center at the National Harbor (Stan Maryland) near Washington, where the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the largest political event of the American right, took place.
President: The meeting with Trump was complemented by the trial
After the meeting and after participating in the conference, President Andrzej Duda talked to the correspondent of TVN's “Facts” in Washington Marcin Wrona.
– I treat this meeting as a kind of complement to this process, which took place in the last literal days, so far in Poland, and today it has been completed in Washington. In Poland because I had a meeting with both the Secretary of Defense, the Lord (Pete – ed.) HegeSthem, who visited us and from which I met in the Presidential Palace, and then with Mr. General Kellog, i.e. the special envoy of President Donald Trump, responsible for issues just Ukraine – said the president.
As he said, he treats the US as an intermediary in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. – This is an intermediary, which is headed today by not so much a politician as a businessman who assumes that because because United States They have supported Ukraine in recent years with powerful expenditure on military support, and not only military, for Ukraine – these are hundreds of billion dollars – therefore the United States would also like to have some profits from it – the president continued.
– For me, this American economic presence is a fairly clever plan, because it is also a kind of security guarantee for Ukraine – said the president.
Duda: I told Zelanski that he had to negotiate
Andrzej Duda also said that before departure to the USA he talked to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelnski.
– I said: “Wołodymyr, you are dealing with a man who spent most of your life in business and has a bit of a business approach now to this situation, but you also spent a large part of your life in business. So just come to this business, negotiate And that's it. ” Because this deal has a large charge of strategic safety, because he probably must be shaped in this way – he added.
– For me, the most important thing is for this war to end in a fair room, which will last, because that's what Poles are about and I mean as president. The last one means that the war will not come back and that Russia will not attack anyone anymore.
Duda: There was not a word about weakening the US military presence in our country
In the context of security in our part of Europe, the president was asked about US plans regarding the American military presence in Poland.
– I have talked to three important American politicians so far, including the most important, i.e. President Donald Trump. None of them even suggested that any weakening of American presence in Poland could occur. On the contrary – the president reported.
– I told him (US president – ed.) That I would like the idea of Ford Trump to be implemented in practice and I saw that he liked it very much. He even expressed very positively about it that it is such a nice idea that he remembers him. I said, “Let's just do it” so that there is really a large American base also showing clearly the American hard presence (…). There was not a word about weakening this presence in our country – said the Polish president.
Trump's visit to Poland “a matter of weeks”?
Andrzej Duda was also asked about the announced journey of Donald Trump to Poland.
– Do you think it's a matter of weeks? – Marcin Wrona asked. – I don't know, I can't answer this question. He certainly cares about it, because he talked to me several times today and it will also definitely determine his calendar, because it clearly showed that he wanted to get involved in this process personally – he added.
The president indicated that there are two terms in which this visit would have an “additional dimension”. He mentioned here the Tri -Millet Summit planned at the end of April, which will take place in Warsaw.
– But we already know from the Americans that this is a difficult date, so here we have absolutely not obtained any clear confirmation – added the president. He mentioned the summit as the second date NATO in The Hague, which is to take place at the end of June.
