Source: tvn24

We know about the preferences of young people that they are more diverse than the preferences of older age groups – said in the program “This is how” political science Agnieszka Kwiatkowska from the SWPS University. Kinga Wojtas from UKSW predicts that in the upcoming presidential election “we will not see such a break up as in the 2023 election among young”.

There are less than seven weeks left until the presidential election in Poland. In the program “Yes,” on TVN24, Dr. Agnieszka Kwiatkowska, a political science and sociologist from the SWPS University and Dr. Kinga Wojtas, a political science at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University, discussed the election preferences of the youngest voters.

– What we know about young preferences is above all that they are more diverse than the preferences of older age groups. The further we go with age, the more pound dualism rules – explained Kwiatkowska. She pointed out that in the last parliamentary elections “and the left, and this more extreme right were obtained by results comparable to these large parties.”

– So generally, when we look at the young, they are above all varied. However, the situation gets more complicated, as we consider sex, because we know that this diversity in young people is not the same among girls and boys. In this youngest (age) category 18-29 we have leftist girls and right -wing boys – she added.

“Trzaskowski made a strong volt to the right”

To the question of what attendance we can expect from the youngest electorate in the election, Kwiatkowska replied that “we have to see how the election campaign would be run”. She also added, “that they are voters where less can be relying than in older cohorts.” – These are not voters so much attached to the party, to brands, candidates like older generations – she explained.

In turn, when asked which of the candidates she has “the most loyal young voters on their side”, the political scientist replied that “Rafał Trzaskowski,” after all, “. – Whereas Rafał Trzaskowski So far, he has done one, together with his party, a strong volt to the right. As a result, we have a large percentage of young women who say that they do not know yet whether they will go, they do not know who they will vote for – she supplemented.

– These women since the election in 2023 are still waiting for the fulfillment of various demands that motivated them to vote in these elections and they can't wait – noted Kwiatkowska.

Among young women “there is disappointment”

Kinga Wojtas said that the topic of abortion “did not cease to be important”. – For women it is still a lively topic, but there is disappointment. How much can you talk about something that was promised, which was to be done during the first moments of governing by the coalition and what happened to it. Everyone likes to be taken seriously, so when disappointed hope appears, it is also knocking and killing so that our voice is realized is less intense – she said.

Citing high attendance among young people in the 2023 elections, Wojtas said that it was motivated by the so -called “critical action voting, i.e. let's go, let's change reality.” – Unfortunately, I am afraid that it is some frustration, withdrawal and we will not see such a break up as in the 2023 elections among young people – the political scientist predicts.
