The President of the Republic of Poland is not responsible for providing official support to any of the candidates, Andrzej Duda said on Wednesday at a conference in Armenia. At the same time, he admitted that the approach of the president of the Institute of National Remembrance and candidate of Law and Justice, Karol Nawrocki, to “issues important for the Republic of Poland is close to his heart.” He also mentioned the Confederation's candidate.
Andrzej Dudawho resides in Armeniawas asked on Wednesday about giving official support to any of the candidates in next year's presidential elections. – The President of the Republic of Poland is not responsible for providing official support to any of the candidates, but the president is Institute of National Remembrance Karol Nawrocki and his approach to important matters for the Republic of Poland is close to me, he said.
He added that he intended to use his vote in the elections. – As a citizen of the Republic of Poland, I will do everything in my power, if my health allows, to go to the elections and take part in them in person, to vote, as is the right of every citizen who has the right to vote – he assured.
– He is certainly a very interesting candidate. I can say – when it comes to the approach to our affairs, historical issues, state issues – close to my heart – he said about PiS candidate Karol Nawrocki.
– But there is also a candidate of the Confederation. I will want to hear what gentlemen and ladies, although there are only men for now, have to say about important Polish issues – he said.
Candidates in the presidential elections
They announced their participation in next year's presidential elections: Rafał Trzaskowski from the Civic Coalition, PiS candidate Karol Nawrocki, Speaker of the Sejm and head of Poland 2050 Szymon HołowniaSławomir Mentzen from Konfederacja and Marek Jakubiak from the Wolnia group Republicans. The Left has not yet presented its candidate.
Even though the official presidential campaign will not start until January, candidates supported by their parties are already starting to fight for voters' votes. The presidential elections will be held in May 2025 and will elect a successor to Andrzej Duda, who served as president for two terms.
