– I feel like a candidate from 2020. This responsibility, in a sense, has been with me since 2020. We have a score of wrongs to settle with PiS, said Rafał Trzaskowski, mayor of Warsaw, who is running to be the Civic Coalition's candidate for president, at a meeting in Białystok. He called the competition with Radosław Sikorski in the primary elections “friendly”.
The deputy head of PO and the mayor of Warsaw are competing in the presidential primaries in the Civic Coalition. Rafał Trzaskowski and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski. On Monday Civic Platform published the results “big survey” regarding the chances of Trzaskowski and Sikorski in the presidential elections. It shows that Trzaskowski would defeat the candidate PIS both in the first and second round, and Sikorski would have lost in the first round.
The primary elections are scheduled to take place on Friday, and the results are expected to be presented on Saturday.

Trzaskowski: I feel like a candidate from 2020
On Wednesday, Trzaskowski met with the residents of Białystok.
– I remember these rallies from the election campaign almost five years ago, what an amazing atmosphere there was. It carried us then and we need this energy very much today. And that is why, ladies and gentlemen, I am asking you to vote in the primaries. This is an extremely important matter, he said.
– I decided to propose primary elections because I believe that our candidate should have the strongest possible mandate. We are going to a really, really difficult fight with PiS in the presidential elections. I'm sure it will be close. I'm sure it will be difficult. And that is why we will need a lot of your support, he continued.
– I feel like a candidate from 2020 because you trusted me then. Then you gave me this support and this incredible energy. And this responsibility, in a sense, has been with me since 2020. We have a score of wrongs to settle with PiS, Trzaskowski continued.
Trzaskowski on “friendly rivalry” with Sikorski
Referring to the rivalry with Sikorski, the mayor of Warsaw said that “his emotions are reserved only for the clash with PiS.”
– I think that at the moment we are wasting our emotions on something that is actually a friendly competition. And even if you sometimes hear certain jokes – I try not to tease anyone – I think that we need to forget about it, focus only on the good sides of both candidates and, above all, prepare for December 7, when we will start the election campaign, and then for the campaign itself election – added the deputy head of PO.
– Radek Sikorski asked and postulated to make a deep decision after the American elections survey. We did this poll because we all take each other very seriously and it clearly shows that I have an overwhelming advantage in the first round. Remember that to get to the second round, you must first win the first round (…). Looking at the second round – also a big advantage. And over PiS, also over my competitor, 14 percent to 8, I have a 14 percent advantage over PiS, Radek – eight percent (advantage over PiS – editor) – Trzaskowski pointed out.
