On Sunday at 4 p.m., a civic meeting will be held in Krakow with the participation of PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński, during which the decision to support the non-party presidential candidate will be announced, said PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek.
Bochenek announced that the meeting would take place in Hala Sokół – a place, as he said, “historical and special for the broad community of Polish patriots.”
Bochenek said that Sunday's event is of a social nature, and the willingness to participate in it can be reported through the offices of PiS parliamentarians. – This is the beginning of our common, many-month journey, hard work and cooperation of all those who are not indifferent to the affairs of our homeland. This is a time of solidarity and unity, because only in this way can we build a successful future for Poland, said the spokesman. He also said that “the decision to support a non-party candidate” for president was “recommended by the team appointed for this purpose pursuant to the decision of the Political Committee.”
Who is the PiS candidate?
Law and Justice has not yet announced who the party's candidate will be in next year's presidential elections. Media reports say that the president may be on the list of potential candidates Institute of National Remembrance Karol NawrockiMEP and former candidate for president of the capital Tobiasz Bocheńskiformer Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek or the former head of the Ministry of National Defense, currently the head of the PiS club Mariusz Błaszczak.
There is various information in the public space about a possible nomination. President of PiS Jarosław Kaczyński was asked on Thursday by Arleta Zalewska, a reporter of “Fakty” TVN“have the party authorities already made a decision about the candidate?” He replied “not yet”.
He was also asked whether there were three or two candidates for the nomination, because there are different voices in this context. – Four – Kaczyński replied.
Still on Wednesday the deputy head of the PiS club, Ryszard Terlecki, claimed:that “at the moment, one could say, the choice is being made between two candidates, i.e. Przemysław Czarnek and Karol Nawrocki.” – But there are always surprises in such circumstances, so a surprise may happen here too. Although it will probably be one of these two – he added.
Meanwhile on Thursday morning Jacek Sasin from PiS in “Rozmowa Piaseckiego” on TVN24 he said that Ryszard Terlecki's words “are a premature statement.” – I don't rule out the possibility that in a moment it will actually happen that there will be only two candidates. Today, there are more than two candidates (…) When it comes to this subject of final research, there were four candidates – he said.
