On Wednesday evening, the Greater Poland Fire Department received a report about the smell of sulfur in the operating theater at the hospital in Puszczykowo. 13 fire brigades were dispatched to the operation, including a specialist chemical rescue group. 20 people were evacuated.
The officer on duty at the Greater Poland fire brigade said that the services received the report on Wednesday before 6 p.m.
– We received a report from the emergency notification center about the smell of sulfur in the operating theater. Even before our teams arrived, 17 people, including three patients, had evacuated from the ward, he said. He added that 13 fire brigade units were dispatched to the site, including a specialist chemical rescue group.
At 9.30 p.m., junior brigadier Kamil Witoszko from the Poznań State Fire Service said that firefighters are still on site and the source of the sulfur smell has not been determined. However, he added that no one was injured.
A few days ago On Saturday, November 9, there was a fire in the hospital in Puszczykowo. As firefighters reported at the time, the source of the fire was in the basement of the building next to the palliative ward. Five people were injured – four suffered smoke inhalation, one was injured and 36 were evacuated.
