KIA notified the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) that the vacuum pump may be damaged in KIA Sportage cars manufactured in Slovakia between September 2022 and June 2023. For this reason, the repair campaign covered nearly 3,000 vehicles on the Polish market.

KIA Polska notified the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection that in KIA Sportage cars (model code NQ5), manufactured on Slovakia from September 8, 2022 to June 14, 2023, the vacuum pump may fail. This element may be mechanically damaged by the high torque occurring during the engine start-up phase, he said UOKiK.

Call for KIA Sportage owners

“As a result, increased pressure on the brake pedal while braking may be required. Moreover, in some situations, the engine warning light may come on in the instrument panel,” the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection said in a statement.

As reported, 2,795 vehicles are covered by the repair campaign on the Polish market.

Vehicle owners will be notified to make an appointment at an authorized KIA service center to update the engine control module (ECM) software.

Previously, KIA announced that a service campaign in Poland would cover over a dozen thousand cars of this brand at risk of failure of the HECU hydraulic-electronic control unit.
