Iga Świątek played a three-set thriller with Katie Boulter in Sydney. The Pole lost the first set after a tie-break 6:7 (4). In the second set, she clearly dominated her opponent and won 6:1. Until the score was 4:4 in the third set, it was difficult to say who deserved the final win more. Ultimately, Świątek won in the last two games. It was certainly a very demanding and exhausting fight for Iga Świątek. During the third set, she needed medical attention. Fortunately, health problems did not cause any major problems and she was able to fight for the final victory, which also allowed her to set a new record.
It was calculated that this was the Pole's second match in a row, which she won despite losing after a tie-break in the first set. This is the fifth time this has happened since August 2023.

It can definitely be said that the clash with Boulter was the most difficult for Świątek in the new season. Against Malene Helgo she lost only one game, and against Karolina Muchova she played an hour less and did not lose a set.
– I'm just exhausted. I'm happy I won so I don't have to play mixed doubles again. This match was crazy, with twists and turns, I thought I had everything under control in the first set, but it was tight. I didn't want to make the same mistake in the third set, said Świątek after winning against the British.
In the United Cup semi-finals, Poland will play against Kazakhstan. This meeting will take place on January 4.
