Rolls-Royce, the British luxury carmaker, plans to invest 300 million pounds ($376 million) to expand its factory in Goodwood, Reuters reported on Wednesday. He wants to develop the production of custom-made cars there. The offer ranges from gold sculptures to works of art made of mother of pearl.

The investment is the largest since the plant was opened in 2003. At that time, 300 people worked there and one car was produced a day – said the company quoted by the agency. Currently, the Goodwood factory employs 2,500 people and produces 28 cars a day.
Growing demand for custom-made cars
Reuters explained that Rolls-Royceas well as other luxury car manufacturers, have recorded an increase in demand for personalized car equipment from wealthy customers.
Only in 2024 BMW said its “artisans created exquisite details,” including solid 18-karat gold carvings, embroidery consisting of more than 869,500 stitches, wood veneers consisting of 500 individually shaped pieces of wood, and holographic paint finishes.
However, overall sales of Rolls-Royce cars fell by more than 5%. in 2024. The automaker sold 5,712 cars globally, up from 6,032 cars sold in 2023, which it said was in line with its expectations as the company transitions to new models.
