Once again, there was a drone attack on the Russian fuel base in the city of Engels in the Saratov Oblast, Russian channels on Telegram reported on Tuesday morning. The base burned for six days after a previous drone strike by the Ukrainian military.

The governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, reported on the night from Monday to Tuesday that “as a result of the drone attack, damage occurred on the premises of an industrial enterprise in Engels.” “Rescue and operational services are working in intensified mode,” the official wrote on Telegram. During the previous attack, Busargin also wrote about the fuel base as an “industrial enterprise.”

The fuel base in Engels supplies fuel to the nearby airport where Tu-95 and Tu-160 strategic bombers are stationed. Previously, drones attacked it on the night of January 7-8. Firefighters fought the fire for six days.
The attack at that time was confirmed by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Ukrainian side has not commented on the current attack yet.
Ukrainian military analyst Roman Switan previously told Kyiv's Channel 24 that jet fuel tanks at the Engels base contain thousands of tons of fuel. He explained that the base supplying the airport where strategic bombers are stationed must have such reserves. – One Tu-160 needs over 170 tons of aviation fuel, Switan said, predicting that in the “near future the base in Engels may be attacked by drones again.”
