Ukrainian troops are present in the Russian Belgorodzi region – confirmed the President of Ukraine Wołodymyr Zelnski. – We continue active actions in the border areas of the enemy and this is absolutely justified. The war must come back where it came from – he said.

In his evening speech, Wołodymyr Zelnski said that the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Ukraine Oleksandr Syrski presented a report “On the front line, the presence of troops in the Kursk region and the Belgorodz region”. This is the first official confirmation of surgery in the Russian Belgorodzi region, which borders with Ukraine.

The chief commander informed about the activities of Ukrainian units along the Ukrainian border, as well as in the so -called gray zone and directly on the territory Russia.

– We continue active actions in the border areas of the enemy and this is absolutely justified. The war must return where it came from. Our main goal remains the same: to protect our land and our communities in the Sumski and Kharkiv regions from Russian occupiers – said Zelanski.

– It is important that thanks to the courage and resistance of our soldiers in the Kursk region, thanks to the entire Kurska operation, we were able to reduce the pressure to other areas of the front, in particular in the Donetsk region – he said.

According to the Ukrainian president, it is absolutely important to continue the destruction of Russian equipment and all logistics used by the opponent along the front line. The head of the state thanked each of the Ukrainian units, which provides this result, inflicts losses of the Russian army and protects Ukrainian positions.

Ukrainian army in the Belgorodzi region

On March 18, the defense department in Moscow for the first time informed about the attempt to “break the Ukrainian troops” towards two Russian villages on the border of the Belgorodz and Kurski districts.

At that time, the Russian ministry informed about the “attack” of 200 Ukrainian soldiers, equipped with over 20 equipment units. The authorities in Moscow assured that the offensive was represented. The Governor of the Wiaczesław Gładkow region announced the evacuation of the inhabitants of several villages, located just off the border with Ukraine. Local authorities, however, reported something else that “the situation is difficult” and that Ukrainians still remain in the Belgorodz region.

In turn, the Ukrainian army entered the Kurski District in Russia on August 6, 2024. They have been there for eight months. One of the goals of this offensive is to force the Russians to transfer some of the forces to this region from the occupied Donbass in the east of Ukraine.
