The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the strategic bombers made a planned flight over neutral waters, the Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday. Two of them flew over the Black Sea and two others over the Barents Sea.
According to the Ministry of Defense RussiaTu-95 planes made a five-hour flight over the Black Sea. Both were escorted by Su-30SM and Su-27 fighters. However, over the waters of the Barents Sea, they were Tu-95MS bombers, whose flight lasted four hours.
The Black Sea has been the site of Russia's military operations since the attack on Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea in 2014. After the start of a full-scale war in February 2022, further clashes broke out between Kiev's navy and Moscow's Black Sea Fleet.
The Barents Sea lies to the north of Finland, Sweden and Norwayas well as in the north-west of Russia.
On the same day, the Russian Interfax agency reported that The frigate Admiral Golovko conducted exercises while crossing the English Channel and headed for designated areas of the Atlantic Ocean.
“While crossing the canal, the crew of the Russian frigate conducted air defense and anti-submarine exercises, as well as a series of training courses in conducting rescue operations using Ka-27 helicopters,” the Interfax news agency reported. The agency referred to the press service of the Northern Fleet. She added that the frigate's crew is conducting anti-terrorist exercises, repelling attacks by air and sea drones of the contractual enemy.
