SBU: Poland handed over the Russian agent to Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) informed on Tuesday that Poland handed over Ukraine a citizen of this country being a Russian agent associated with the Ukrainian oligarch Wiktor Medwedczuk hiding in Russia.

The agent detained in Poland has been deported and is in the detention center in Kiev – SBU informed. Ukrainian media write that detained and expelled from Poland to Ukraine The agent is a “political expert” and “propagandist” associated with Wiktor Medwedczuk, a Ukrainian oligarch who has close relations with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

SBU emphasized that the arrest occurred thanks to cooperation with Polish law enforcement agencies. “For the first time since the beginning of the full -scale invasion, at the request of SBU, the Russian agent who worked against our country in the information sphere was handed over to Ukraine,” it was announced in a communiqué.

Tvn24.pl has asked the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice asking for a comment on this matter.

“He worked simultaneously for two services of a country of aggressor”

“According to the materials of the investigation (…) he was recruited and worked simultaneously for two special services of the Aggressor's country: FSB (Federal Security Service of Russia) and the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service. At the behest of the occupiers, he discredited Ukraine in the international arena and worked on destabilizing the internal situation in our country's partner countries” – noted SBU.

The announcement explained that in 2022 the detained collaborator of Russian services left Ukraine to Russiawhere he became one of the key ideologists of the Kremlin's media projects. He was also a frequent guest of political programs on Russian television.

Wiktor Medwedczuk, a pro -Russian Ukrainian politician, was detained in April 2022 during an attempt to escape from Ukraine and handed over to Russia as part of the exchange five months later. He was considered the main lobbyist of the Kremlin's interests in Ukraine, and his intimacy with the Kremlin is evidenced by the fact that Putin is the godfather of his daughter.
