Silesian disaster Wrocław! Just look at the Ekstraklasa Football table

After thirteen matches played in the 2024/25 season, Polish runner-up Śląsk Wrocław still had only one victory to its name. Before Saturday's home match against Górnik Zabrze, Jacek Magiera's team had only nine points and was three points behind the safe zone, and the clash with Zabrze seemed to be a good opportunity to improve their achievements.

So much for theory, but what did it look like in practice? In the first half, the only shots on target were made by Zabrze, who also had the best chance to take the lead. In the 21st minute, Aleksander Buksa shot on target from several meters, but definitely too lightly to beat Rafał Leszczyński.

Thirteen minutes later, Buksa had much less mercy for the Śląsk goalkeeper. The 21-year-old striker received an excellent cross from the left side of the pitch from Erik Janża and opened the scoring with a very impressive aerial shot into the long corner of the opponent's goal.

Not much else happened in the second part of the match. Miner he seemed to calmly repel the attacks of the losing Wrocław team, who were not helped by Jacek Magiera's subsequent substitutions. Śląsk did not fire a single shot on target in the entire match! Górnik, in turn, could have increased the score in the 75th minute when Luka Zahović shot over the goal in an ideal situation after Erik Janża's flat center.

Śląsk Wrocław deservedly lost to Górnik Zabrze 0:1 and still remains the “red light” of PKO Ekstraklasa. Thanks to this win, Górnik moved up to eighth place with 21 points.

On Sunday, we will have two big hits from this series of games. First, at 14:45, second in the table Jagiellonia Bia³ystok will host Raków Częstochowa at the Chorten Arena, while at 5:30 p.m. there will be a classic between Lech Poznań and Legia Warszawa.
