Guests of “Coffee on the bench” on TVN24 talked about the words of the confederation candidate Sławomir Mentzen about abortion. – What you propose is really women's hell. Worse than proposed by Law and Justice – said Dorota Olko from the left. – It is in the confederation program that we are pro life, we are against killing a child for being committed by someone else – explained Michał Wawer from the confederation.

On Wednesday, the confederation candidate for president Sławomir Mentzen visited the Zero channel, where he said, among others, that “innocent children must not be killing, even if the child is associated with some unpleasantness.” – We have no right to kill another man, just because this man hurts us that he is unpleasant to us, that he can harm our lives very much – he said. Mentzen used the word “unpleasantness” in response to whether he is against the law to abortion in the event of pregnancy as a result of rape.

Kobosko: Time for voters to learn the real views of Mentzen

Szymon Hołownia He called for the debate of Sławomir Mentzen. And very good, because it's time for voters to learn the real views of this candidate – said Polish MEP 2050 Michał Kobosko. He pointed out that Mentzen, who is reluctant to answer journalists' questions and does not accept invitations to the TVN24 studio, “presents different views.”

– We want to know if the views he has been preparing for several years, this famous “five Mentzen” that he does not want Jews in Poland, he does not want the European Union, taxes, abortion, homosexuals, or whether this is his leading line. Because we slowly find out that he wants to pay Polish students for, for example, to pay for studies. And he thinks that it would be the most appropriate, most normal – he said.

Wawer: Treatment is not synonymous with putting a woman and intentionally conduct an abortion

– It is in the confederation program that we are pro life, we are against killing a child for being committed by someone else – explained Michał Wawer from the confederation. He noted that his party's program is clear. – Imaging pregnancy should be permissible only as a side effect of treatment. That is, we do not do treatments that are aimed at killing a child. However, we agree that if the mother is treated, taking medicine and some therapy, it may result in breaking pregnancy – said the politician.

Asked, which in a situation where the continuation of pregnancy threatens the life of the mother, replied: – If there is a threat to life, then you have to treat. Do not kill the child deliberately, but treat the disease.

– If the pregnancy is, for example, ectopic, of course, that this pregnancy will not be fully reported and you have to stop then. The threat is that the mother has some other disease and pregnancy increases the risk associated with this disease, so you just have to treat the disease – said Wawer. He added that “treatment is not synonymous with putting a woman and intentionally conduct an abortion.”

Olko: It is not Mentzen who will have to deal with such a “inconvenience”

– What Mr Wawer says is a clear answer that when pregnancy is the result of rape, a woman has no right to interrupt pregnancy. And then, when pregnancy threatens her life, a woman would not have a confederation in the world (the right to abortion – ed.) – said Dorota Olko from the left.

– You said that you have to treat the disease, but you do not understand that, for example, when there is a situation of sepsis, you have to stop pregnancy so that the sepsis does not deepen. These are specific cases we were dealing with – she said.

In her opinion, what she proposes Confederation It's “barbarism”. – It is legalizing that pedophilia's victims must have giving birth to children, they have to report pregnancy, which is the result of rape. I think that people who have not been aware so far that you are dangerous fanatics, they happily gain this awareness – she said.

– What you propose is really women's hell. Worse than proposed Law and Justice. And it seemed that it could not be worse than for law and justice, when it comes to women's rights, deciding about your own body, own health. And we're really talking about extreme situations here. About situations when a woman experiences an absolute trauma. And you say to deepen this trauma – the left MP was outraged.

She also referred directly to the words of Mentzen. – Your candidate says, yes (pregnancy from rape – ed.) This is a tragic situation, but you have to deal with such “inconvenience”. And I think that this is happening because it is not Sławomir Mentzen who will ever have to deal with such “inconvenience” – Olko said.

Dera: The choice always belongs to a woman

– As for abortion, I have my personal view. If we have a situation that a certain constitutional norm is broken, we are talking about rape here, we are talking about health, which is guaranteed constitutionally, and this is broken, it is always a choice – said Andrzej Dera from the president's office.

– The law creates a possibility, not an order. This is the first thing. And the second, the choice always belongs to a woman. Will he use this choice, or another. This is the end of this discussion, because all the rest is already ideology – Dera said.

Horała: Abortion is clearly a substitute topic

PiS MP Marcin Horała said that in terms of abortion, a PiS candidate Karol Nawrocki “He spoke extremely clearly.” – He is not a supporter of the exacerbation of the current abortion law. However, above all, he is an opponent of throwing this topic, which is now clearly a substitute topic – said Horała.

He pointed out that, according to the research, “60 percent of Poles say that they live worse than in their previous rule, and only 10 percent say that they live better.” – This is a topic that we should talk about. There will be Christmas. Everyone will be able to see if he can afford such holidays that he could afford a year or two years ago. This is the most important issue that affects millions of Poles – he argued.

Dorota Olko reacted to these words. – This is perhaps a substitute topic for the Lord, Mr. Mentzen, for Mr. Nawrocki, but for us it is not. Because for me, as a woman living in Poland, who may get pregnant, it is quite important to know if a man is to become a man who is an extreme fundamentalist in this matter and would force me to birth for a child from rape – said the left MP.

Pomaska: Today women have a sense of security and you want to take it away from them

– There are situations and procedures in which a woman in order to be effectively treated must first have pregnancy. As I understand, your candidate (Sławomir Mentzen – ed.) Also receives this law. I am talking about even oncological treatment – said Agnieszka Pomaska, turning to the confederation politician.

As she said, “today we have a clash of two worlds”. – We have a clash of Mr. Mentzen, but also Mr. Nawrocki, who believes that a woman should not quite decide about herself. Law and Justice once loved ideological themes until they became uncomfortable for you. You have tightened the abortion law and through you, or thanks to you, thousands of women went out on the streets to admonish their rights. Today, women have a sense of security, and you want to take a sense of security for them – said the MP of the Civic Coalition.

She explained that we were talking about “the basic sense of security of women in Poland”. – We restored this sense of security by introducing appropriate procedures in NFZrestoring the right to free in vitro, restoring the universal right to perinatal anesthesia. Today, women feel safer, and you want to take it away from them – she accused PiS politicians and the confederation.

She added that “talking about it is very important, because the President of the Republic of Poland should guard the security of Polish women.”
