Sławomir Mentzen about pregnancy with rape. “Do not kill innocent children, even if this is unpleasant”

You must not kill innocent children, even if the child is associated with some unpleasantness – said Sławomir Mentzen, the leader of the confederation and presidential candidate, asked if he supports abortion in the event of conception as a result of rape. He also said that he would not sign a law that would allow pregnancy to be terminated. – I think it is beastly. Innocent children should not be killed. Even if this innocent child gives someone a great trauma – he repeated.

On Wednesday, Sławomir Mentzen was a guest of another presidential candidate – Krzysztof Stanski – in the Zero channel. The lecturer read the question asked by one of the Internet users: – If the pedophile raped your brother's daughter and she would get pregnant, would you be against abortion?

“I am deeply convinced that if a pedophile raped my brother's daughter, my brother would do everything to make this child grow into a decent man,” Mentzen replied.

Asked by the Stocky, whether he really has such radical views that he does not support abortion even in the case of rape, the leader of the confederation replied that “there are one of the rape of rape in Poland a year”, and therefore “the probability that this terrible tragedy will happen to anyone, is minimal.”

– This has no translation into practical life. In the world of all these tablets “day after”, in the modern world, this is one case, this is a border question. This is not something that happens every day in the streets – he said.

He expressed the opinion that “you have to drastically punish the perpetrators of crimes, rapists” and “do everything to make these rape as few as possible.” As an example of such activities, he mentioned closing the border. – At the moment when borders open to people from other countries, from Africa, from the Middle East, the number of rape is growing drastically – he continued.

He emphasized that the perpetrators of “real rapes, not invented” should be treated sharply, adding that “we have a problem that sometimes men are accused of rape, which was simply not there.” – This is also a serious problem to distinguish one from the other. However, if we are sure that the rape actually happened, the penalty should be strict. But for the rapist, not for the victim – he noted.

After which he said: – I am deeply convinced that innocent children must not be killing, even if this child is associated with some unpleasantness.

– We have no right to kill another man, just because this man hurts us that he is unpleasant for us, that he can hurt our life very much. We do not kill innocent people, I think it is very important – said the politician. He added, “if we allow to kill innocent people once, just because they are harmful to us, we open the space to kill other innocent people who also harm us.” – I think it is beastly. Innocent children should not be killed. Even if this innocent child gives someone a great trauma – he repeated.

When asked if he would veto an abortion law, he replied that it would be incompatible with the Polish constitution. “I would not sign a law unlawful with the Polish constitution,” he said. “I won't put my hand to kill innocent children,” he added.

“It should be a woman's decision, not Sławomir Mentzen”

Agnieszka Wiśniewska (political criticism) and Jacek Nizinkiewicz (Rzeczpospolita) commented on the statement of Sławomir Mentzen on Thursday morning on TVN24.

– It seems that the story about not killing innocent people, all this sounds very nice, but if we talk about abortion, this is a completely different story – said Wiśniewska. She also noted that it does not matter whether we are talking about pregnancy from rape or not.

– Today, if a woman does not want to be pregnant, she should have the right not to be pregnant. Whether this pregnancy is the result of rape or has happened in any other situation, a woman should have the right to decide that she is not pregnant. This should be a woman's decision, not Sławomir Mentzen – she said.

– I cannot imagine a state in which the president decides whether a woman is to give birth to a child from rape or not, and talking about the fact that this is an unpleasant situation is something absolutely scandalous – said Nizinkiewicz. According to him, Sławomir Mentzen “can shoot” a large part of voters. – We don't want such Poland, in which women will be forced to give birth to children – added the journalist.

Menzten about abortion – loud statements of the leader of the Confederation

This is not the first statement of the confederation leader about abortion. Mentzen has been consistent in his views on this subject for years. Abortion was one of the points of the famous “Friday of the Confederation”. – We do not want Jews, homosexuals, abortion, taxes and the European Union – said Mentzen in 2019.

In March 2023, in an interview with the journalist of “Gazeta Wyborcza” he stated that “abortion is a killing a child.” “If someone kills a child, it should be punished somehow,” he added. When asked if he maintains the proposals from the STU Set Mentzen package, in which “he wanted to punish women and doctors with prison from a year to ten years for making an abortion”, he replied that he does not remember “exactly”.

In the “100 Mentzen Set” project presented in September 2019 (now unavailable), and specifically in the proposal of Act number 45, there was a record: “Who causes the death of a conceived child, is subject to the penalty of deprivation of liberty from a year to 10 years”.

In April last year, Mentzen published an entry on Platform X, in which he stated that “a supporter of killing sick children, for example with Down syndrome, is similar to the Nazi who allowed the killing of Jews, or to a slave trader allowing the killing of blacks.” “I have no doubt that if our civilization survives, the abortionists will hit the pages of history as the perpetrators of the greatest genocide in the history of the world. You will be treated worse than the Nazis and communists by history,” wrote the leader of the confederation.
