The RCB smog alert is valid in parts of Poland. On Saturday evening, the worst air quality was recorded in the Silesian Voivodeship. The services have been advising against outdoor activity since morning.
On Saturday at 18. the worst smog situation was in Cieszyn: the momentary reading showed 220 micrograms of PM10 dust per cubic meter of air, and during the day the values ranged from 170-190 µg/m3. The air in Jastrzębie-Zdrój was also polluted, where the PM10 concentration reached 170 µg/m3 (previously on Saturday it was 150-170 µg/m3). On the night from Friday to Saturday, the highest smog concentration was recorded by the measuring station in Rybnik: at On night 1, the PM10 reading was 425 µg/m3.
According to WHO standards, we talk about good quality air when the concentration of harmful dust does not exceed 50 µg/m3 in the case of PM10 dust. Pursuant to the regulation of the Minister of the Environment, from October 11, 2019, a smog alarm is announced when the average value of 150 µg/m3 is exceeded during a 24-hour period. for PM10 dust.

Suspended dust is a mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets that remain in the air. These particles may contain, for example: sulfur and nitrogen compounds, organic compounds (including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), heavy metals, dioxins and allergens (such as plant pollen and fungal spores). PM10 dust contains particles with a diameter not exceeding 10 micrometers.
