The storms passed over Poland on Wednesday. The front moved from west to east, in the afternoon hooking on Mazovia and bringing effective, local rainfall. How did the phenomenon visible in the photo occur?

On Wednesday, a cool atmospheric front moves to Poland, bringing local rain and hail storms. As a result of pushing cool polar air, pushing warmer masses from the south, clouds were formed. Meteorological warnings were issued in several voivodships first degree.

In places we could observe interesting phenomena accompanying storms. In Domaniów in the Radom poviat there was a local rainfall, which looked impressive in the photo.

Local cloudburst

As explained by the synoptic of TVNmeteo.pl Arleta Unton-Pyziołek, point rainfall was associated with the occurrence of isolated clouds. In a warm mass in front of the front and on the front, compact clouds formed in places, carrying short -term downpours and storms.

– In many places of the front, as well as before it, individual clouds of cumulonimbus, not very impressive sizes, of moderate potential – said.

When the water drops accumulating in the isolated cloud lose gravity, rising currents are not able to keep the water in the cloud core. The rain falls out at one point. Such a pole of water, also called cloudburst, usually has a range of several dozen to several hundred meters.

– A well -educated storm cloud itself has a diameter of up to two kilometers. But in the spring, when thermal contrasts and warming of the ground are not yet large, the clouds do not have substantial size, hence the water pole has a small base. Such rain may be accompanied by hail – she added.
