Sulejówek. Opening the second tunnel under the railway tracks

The second tunnel under the railway tracks in Sulejówek is open. From Thursday, drivers can use a new facility on the edge of the street Przejazd and Krasińskiego, running under the railway line. The investment cost about PLN 100 million.

On Thursday, the official opening of the new 90-meter road tunnel in Sulejówek took place. The investment was aimed at improving safety and shortening the car travel time in the track area. “Thanks to this, drivers no longer have to wait before closed tolls, and trains can run safely from Warsaw to Terespol,” said PKP PLK in the Thursday communication.

She added that two lanes, a pavement and a bicycle path were built in the tunnel. There are also elevators for disabled people. The contractor of this investment was ZRK-DOM. The construction of the tunnel valued at around PLN 100 million was covered with the funds of the National Reconstruction Plan.

Traffic jams will disappear before railway crossings

This is the second tunnel in Sulejówek. The first is located along the Avenue of Marshal Józef Piłsudski (provincial road 638), was built by railwaymen in cooperation with the Minsk poviat and the city of Sulejówek.

It was put into use in 2023. A year ago, a truck hit a protective beam, which was managed to repair on an ad hoc basis to restore traffic. Ultimately, however, a greater renovation will be needed. In the poviat starosty we hear that work can start this summer.

– Investments from the national reconstruction plan contribute to improving the quality of life of residents, and the new tunnel in Sulejówek is a great example. A city without traffic jams and comfortable and safe travel are measurable effects, showing the importance of investments in infrastructure for the development of our country – said Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Piotr Malepszak, quoted in a message.

In Mazovia, collision -free intersections were also created on Karczunkowska Street in Warsaw, Otwock, Pruszków, Wołomin, Zielonka, Łochów, Legionów and a viaduct for pedestrians in Ciechanów.

The construction is under construction tunnels and viaducts on the streets of the 1st Prague Regiment, Chełmżyńska and Mars in Warsaw.
