Polish Spice Girls

Sylwia Wiśniewska, born in Warsaw in 1977, made her debut on the stage as a teenager. At the age of 15, she debuted at the Syrena Theater in Warsaw. It could be seen in the performances for children: “Smurfisko” and “Thumbelina”. A little later, in 1995, Sylwia appeared in the program “afternoon tea at the microphone”, winning the microphone competition for everyone. In the same year she appeared on the boards of the Universal Theater, playing in the musical directed by Krystyna JandaFri. “Miss Tutli-Putli”. And the breakthrough in her artistic career was just around the corner.

In 1997, several people from the Polish music industry decided to create a band that is a Polish response to the British group Spice Girls. Therefore, casting for its members was organized. As you can guess, there were plenty of volunteers, as many as three thousand young women took part in the qualifying rounds. But there could only be five Polish spajettes. The casting was won by Anna Banasiuk, Dominika Korwin, Małgorzata Kosiak, Katarzyna Serocka and Sylwia Wiśniewska. This is how a group called Taboo was created. – In fact, the answer was very simple: five girls, five secrets, one big taboo. There was a specific vision of what this team should look like – she said in the program “On lifetime“A dozen or so years later Anna Cendrowicz.

Taboo officially debuted with a hit entitled “You don't have to”, which fans could hear during the Bravo Party concert. Soon the band released the first album, “One”. However, there was no second one. It turned out that the transplantation of British formation into Polish ground was not the best idea. In 1999, Sylwia Wiśniewska decided to leave Taboo, which finally sealed the group's breakup.

12 tears and colorful maiden no one

Sylwia Wiśniewska left Taboo to bet on a solo career. And at first everything indicated that it was a great move. With the debut album “All You”, Sylwia could count on the support of Wojciech Olszak – a man who stood behind the first albums Edyta Górniak Whether Natalia Kukulska. It turned out great, because “all you” was awarded the golden album awarded by “DJ's Magazine”, the album was also nominated for the Superjedynek Festival in Opole. But it was just a pretty for the greatest success in Sylwia Wiśniewska's career. The success of the debut album meant that she could count on the support of people known in the industry. On the next album, entitled “Dedication”, which was released in 2004, the artist collaborated with Kayah and composer Krzysztof Pszona. It was Kayah who wrote the words to Sylwia Wiśniewska's biggest hit – “12 tears”.

“12 tears” quickly climbed to the top of the radio charts, and the singer became extremely popular. She played concerts, gave interviews, appeared on the covers of colorful magazines. But as she confessed years later, her reality was not so colorful. “It happened that I was on the covers of warehouses, and in the house I had nothing to put in the pot. Show-business is illusory. It's a heavy piece of bread. Especially when it starts ” – recalled Sylwia Wiśniewska in an interview with the magazine” Gala “.” I naively thought that success would come after the first album, and the phones with suggestions would break down. Instead, a bucket of ice water was poured on my head. The album did not succeed. I put a lot of work in him, and in exchange I heard that I was a colorful lady no one ” – the artist said bitterly.

Sylwia Wiśniewska failed to repeat the success of “12 tears”. Perhaps it could have become different. Because Kayah after years confessed that her hit “Testosterone” was initially created for Sylwia. “I took Sylwia, a Śwktucha from me,” Kayah confessed in the program “Good Morning TVN”. “If Sylwia has only learned about it now, I am sorry Sylwio,” added Krzysztof Pszona, composer of the song.

The boy's dad is Sylwia's husband, Karim Martusiewicz, founder of the band Karimski Club, with whom Wiśniewska recorded an album with songs inspired by the poetry of Zbigniew Herbert.

As Sylwia Wiśniewska confessed in an interview for “Gala”, the reasons for ending her career were quite prosaic. “After the first album, four years ago, I played many concerts, but then a recession came. You don't play, you don't earn. A simple bill. Added to this, unflattering criticismwhich I could not defend myself yet. That is why I began to doubt singing and for a long time, for too long, I withdrew from the market ” – explained Sylwia Wiśniewska.

After retreating into the shadows, Sylwia did not break with music. Not everyone knows that We could hear her voice in many commercials and radio jingles. He also works at a private music school, where he teaches in the vocal class. And there is no indication that she planned to return to the stage.
