> President of Ukraine Wołodymyr Zelanski announced that he would wait for a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Turkey on Thursday. He added that he expected a weapon from Russia. Earlier, the president appealed for the meeting of the leaders USA Donald Trump. Zelanski stipulated that he expected a full and permanent suspension of weapons from Monday, May 12, considering that it was “a necessary basis for diplomacy.”
> Putin called on Russia and Ukraine to resume bilateral negotiations based on protocols from Istanbul from the beginning of 2022. As emphasized by the American Think-Tank Institute of War Studies, these documents include Russian demands that mean the total capitulation of Ukraine. “Each agreement based on these protocols would be a documentary document,” says ISW. “Putin is trying to manipulate ongoing discussions about the suspension of weapons and future peace in Ukraine probably to undermine the unity of Ukraine, the USA and Europe around a 30 -day suspension of weapons,” analysts argue.
> Recently, shortly before the first scheduled meeting of Wołodymyr Zelanski and Vladimir PutinUkrainian forces went towards Torećka in the Donetsk region. In turn, the Russians have recently moved towards the northern part of Kharkov and the novelty in the Zaporozhian region.
> Support for Ukraine and strengthening of Euro -Atlantic ties will be the topics of the meeting of the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the so -called Holy Friday, i.e. France, Germany, ItalianPoland and Spain, as well as Great Britain and the EU, which will take place on Monday in London. Poland will be represented by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski. The head of Ukrainian diplomacy Andriy Sybiha is also to take part in the meeting. According to the Reuters agency, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain David Lammy plans to announce further sanctions against entities supporting the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
> Pope Leon XIV during the first Sunday meeting with the faithful in the prayer of Regina Coeli in the Vatican appealed for “authentic, fair and lasting peace” in Ukraine. Speaking to about 100,000 people, Leon XIV said: “I wear the suffering of the beloved Ukrainian nation in my heart.” He called: “Let what is possible to achieve an authentic, fair and lasting peace as soon as possible.” He appealed to release all prisoners and that Ukrainian children could return to their families.
