Nearly 30,000 firefighters are battling 93 major fires in the United States, the National Interagency Fire Center reported. The fight against the fires is hampered by strong winds and high air temperatures. Two people died as a result of the element – one in Colorado, the other in California.

A fire that broke out Tuesday afternoon near Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado killed one person. The body was found in one of the burned houses, Reuters reported. The fire has scorched more than 600 hectares of land in the region. On Thursday, local authorities ordered an evacuation of the town of Lyons, which has a population of 2,000. The fire there is 30 percent contained.

Firefighters are also battling a fire in the southwest part of Denver, Colorado. As reported by Reuters, the fire is about 500 meters from homes, and the services are doing everything they can to prevent it from spreading. The weather conditions are not helping in the fight against the fire – strong winds and high temperatures.

Dozens of fires in California

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, 13 fires are raging in the third largest state in the US, California. The largest of them, the Park Fire, has so far consumed more land than the area of ​​Los Angeles. More than 400 buildings have been destroyed. Almost six thousand firefighters are taking part in the operation.

The Park Fire is the fifth largest wildfire in state history and will soon become the fourth, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Fire activity in the region is about 3 percent higher than last year. Officials reported one death.

Fighting the elements in Oregon

The most difficult fire situation, as reported by Reuters, is in Oregon, on the west coast. More than 30 large fires have already burned more than 400 thousand hectares of forests and meadows there. The largest of them have been extinguished for several days. Local authorities reported that the most common cause of fires is human activity, but also storms with discharges.
