Three tourists died and seven were injured as a result of a fire at a hotel located on the famous Khao San Street in Bangkok. The services are investigating the cause of the tragedy. The city's governor appeals for caution in connection with the upcoming New Year's Eve party.

As reported by the police in Thailandthree foreign tourists died and seven were injured as a result of a fire breaking out at a hotel on the Khao San tourist street in Bangkok on Sunday. Police Colonel Sanong Saengmanee told The Associated Press that one of the tourists died on the spot and two died after being taken to hospital. Additionally, seven people were injured, including five foreigners and two Thai citizens. No information was provided about the nationality of foreign tourists.

The fire broke out on the fifth floor of the six-story Ember Hotel when 75 people were staying in the building. The flames were brought under control after some time. The services are investigating the cause of the fire.

According to ABC News, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt appealed for caution in connection with the upcoming New Year's Eve, during which, among others, fireworks displays. Khao San Road is popular among backpackers (i.e. people traveling with large backpacks) due to its numerous cheap hostels. It is also famous for its intense nightlife and rich culinary offer.
