Doctors from Zabrze removed the 8-kilo ovarian tumor. Great, although they are also bigger. In this case, however, it is a very young patient, a 23-year-old. This sheds light on the problem that Polish women do not study. For years.
It cannot be missed, but the patient did not pay attention to him for a long time. – She was aware of the fact that her abdomen was growing, and this was the only thing she paid attention to – said Dr. Mariusz Wójtowicz, head of the Women's Health Center and Children's Health Center in Zabrze.
The ovarian tumor, which grew in the stomach of a 23-year-old slim woman, weighed eight kilos, yet the patient came to the hospital only when her leg swell. She swollen due to the tumor.
– The change compressed venous vessels, which was already a direct threat to the state of life and health for this patient – said Dr. Mariusz Wójtowicz.

There could be a blood clot, pulmonary embolism, the tumor could also damage the intestines, because it began to grow to them, or crack and cause peritonitis. The patient waited too long, the doctors could not wait.
– We were prepared here for all options, because this procedure was very demanding – said Bożena Śliwa -Rak, head of the Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care of the Municipal Hospital in Zabrze.
The procedure was also very complicated, because the patient's preparation lasted a month. Gynecologists and vascular surgeon performed surgery at the Municipal Hospital in Zabrze. The removed tumor was not malicious.

– Very large changes turn out to be less malicious than those of smaller sizes – pointed out Tadeusz Kapek, deputy head of the Women and Child Health Center.
The tumor grew in the stomach of the 23-year-old at least a year. The woman did not go to a gynecologist. – Young age does not condition that there will be no problems that may be a life threat to a woman – noted Dr. Mariusz Wójtowicz.
It is not the first time that doctors save patients who have not examined for years. Polish women have already had 14-kilo, 20-kilo, 30-kilogram and even 42-kilograms tumors.
– There is such a seamstress symptom: the patient will first go to the tailor to enlarge the dress, and only then go to the gynecologist – said Tomasz Kowalski, a gynecologist, obstetrician from the Municipal Hospital in Zabrze.
Polish women do not study
Little Polish women are scandalously examined. Mammography at the NFZ is used by every third entitled, cytology – 11 percent. This is the latest NFZ data.
– The National Health Fund informs about these research, so it certainly is not the lack of knowledge that such research is and that these research is due. (…) If nothing hurts, then women simply do not go to this research – explained Anna Leder from the Łódź Provincial Branch of the National Health Fund.
There are many excuses, each moves away from health.
– “Nobody told me about it.” It is so that we have to walk and use screening proactively, nobody has to order it – pointed out Anna Kupiecka from the “Onkocafe” Foundation.
The 23-year-old operated in Zabrze is already at home. No tumor. – In good general condition, very grateful, probably aware of the fact that such things as tumors must not be underestimated in any way – said Dr. Mariusz Wójtowicz.
Life threat and complicated surgery or one visit to a gynecologist a year. The choice seems simple.
