– This is the history of our city, our country – indicates prof. Dariusz Stola, former director of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews “Polin”, a historian and also a volunteer. It reminds you of what happened nearly 82 years ago.

– The Germans tried to displace the rest of the Jews from the Warsaw ghetto. The remnant, because the giant majority was murdered in 42 years. Then Jewish fighters resisted them. There were fights in the ghetto for several weeks – says Dariusz Stola.

How to become a volunteer?

The Germans killed or transported the captured Jews to the camps. Few managed to get the channels out of the burning ghetto. That we would never forget about them – also this year – yellow flowers will be distributed on the streets of Warsaw.

The form can be found on the internet. There are 350,000 daffodils to give away. A hot request and encouragement flows from the POLIN Museum to apply.

– This year is extremely difficult. April 19 is a great Saturday, so some people are absorbed in preparations for Christmas. This is also the penultimate day of the Jewish Pesach Festival – notes Zofia Bojańczyk, coordinator of the “Dazzkile” Museum of the History of Polish Jews “Polin”.

Volunteering does not have to last all day. – We have three shifts to choose. Two hours, three hours and four hours. Of course, you can take part in all changes – informs Maria Twinniak, coordinator of the “Dazna” Museum of the History of Polish Jews “Polin”.

Why is this important?

Two million paper daffodils have been distributed so far. This was possible thanks to the help of over 15,000 volunteers. The action, which will take place for the 13th time, brings much more.

– I think that this memory, if we remember about such events, ennobles us. He makes us people and makes us sensitive to other people – says Marta Dziewulska from the Museum of the History of Polish Jews “Polin”.

It is worth it to happen from an early age. – We quickly forget about the past. We do not draw the appropriate conclusions from it, so hope is in the youngest – indicates Mariusz Sokołowski, headmaster of Primary School No. 20 in Bialystok, laureate “POLIN 2023 Awards”.

That is why schools can also apply for the “Dangle” campaign from February 17.
